Sheila Joynes Teaches Music Theory
Level 1 (Grade 1) Module 1
Sheila starts you on your journey in Music Theory. Assuming no knowledge at all, this is Music Theory from the very beginning.
In this module, Sheila shows and explains:
Note values - Semibreve or Whole Note*, Minim or Half Note*, etc.
Basic Time signatures
As is always the case with Sheila's videos, there is a downloadable PDF file to go with this video; it contains all the examples Sheila shows during the programme. Sheila gives the download address of this and of the Module FAQ at the end of the video.
Don't forget, as a registered customer, you can also email Sheila to ask any questions you may have. Sheila will answer you and add the answer to the FAQ for everyone's benefit.

...my 16 year old is cramming levels 1-3 for an exam to get into music college, and was struggling quite a bit. I downloaded your lessons which he was very sceptical about, but he eventually insisted on watching every second even when I told him to skip some. He found a lot of the explanations much better than his 'wee red book'. He's finished them all now and will do the exam practice before he goes for the exam tomorrow. (A genuine quote from 'MF' who purchased all the Grades 1 to 3 Sheila Joynes videos; her son is now in Music College!)
Why Online Videos and Why Sheila Joynes?
You can find a few books on Music Theory, but we believe none of these compare with being taught by a renowned, first class tutor. Then of course, Sheila's easy and clear teaching manner shines through everything she does. Each online video includes an FAQ and a PDF of all the examples Sheila has used during the programme - plus - you can even email Sheila to ask any questions you may still have.
One whole grade series of videos costs less than a single average music lesson. The download is yours to keep and watch as many times as you like. Sheila has made it her mission to make learning Music Theory easy, fun and inexpensive.
* A question some have asked already is, "Does Sheila use terms such as 'Semibreves, Minims, Bars' etc or 'Whole Notes, Half Notes, Measures' etc.?" The answer is, both! Sheila explains clearly that there are different terms in use worldwide and uses both in her teaching. Those familiar with either set of terms will feel right at home and everyone learns both; which in itself is a valuable lesson.
