Having taught Music Theory for over 30 years, Sheila Joynes is well aware that some people prefer to see the "whole picture" when learning a new subject. Some parts of Music Theory lend themselves to this approach and Key Signatures is one of them. In this long-anticipated Special Edition programme, Sheila takes you through everything you will ever need to know about scales and key signatures - right from music beginner to Grade 8 and beyond. Watch out for the amazing computer graphics effects around the "Circle of 5ths" section!
This video is a great 'knowledge gap filler'. Some people play music for years but never really fully understand all the ins and outs of Key Signatures. When the time comes that this knowledge really is needed, this programme could quickly fill in the gaps.
Stuck at Grade 5?
Some music examination boards do not allow a pupil to progress beyond Grade 5 until they have passed Grade 5 Music Theory. Many music teachers do not teach Music Theory (or simply do not have time to fit Theory into instrumental lessons taught in school - Sheila herself has this problem) so this can become a barrier the student finds it difficult to pass. If Key Signatures is holding you back from gaining that Grade 5 pass, this video could prove to be the help you're searching for!
Why Online Videos and Why Sheila Joynes?
Whilst you can find a few books that teach Music Theory, we believe none of these compare with being taught by a renowned, first class tutor. Also, this video in particular uses some stunning, innovative digital graphics in the "Circle of 5ths segment. Sheila has invented some amazing ways to put her subject across. Then of course there is Sheila's zany sense of humour which shines through everything she does. Finally, Sheila's online videos include free FAQs and Fact Sheets - plus - you can even email Sheila to ask any questions you may still have! Watch the FREE Introductory Video to meet Sheila and get to know her a little.
